Beer Pretzel Bites

Beer Pretzel Bites

These beer pretzel bites make a delicious snack or appetizer!

These pretzel bites are soft, chewy, and pack a similar flavor to beer bread! They pair well with mustard & beer cheese. I personally enjoy making these to snack on through out the week or as an appetizer for dinner with friends.

Ingredients:

Bread Flour

In my experience, Bread Flour work best for this recipe but all purpose flour works great too.

Butter

Melted butter is essential for this recipe.

Beer

Personally, I use any cheap beer I can find around the house.

Salt

Salt helps the dough to bind & makes a great topping for the pretzels.

Yeast

Active dry yeast is a key ingredient to make these pretzel bites.

Sugar

Sugar helps feed the yeast and adds a sweetness to the dough.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is the key ingredient for making the dough softer in the water bath.

Beer Pretzel Bites

Yield: 5 - 6 Servings | Prep: 4 hours | Cook: 15 Minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 Warm beer

  • 2 1/2 Cups Bread Flour or All Purpose Flour

  • 1 Teaspoon of Table Salt plus some for topping

  • 2 Teaspoons Table Sugar

  • 2 Teaspoons of Instant Dry Yeast

  • 4 Tablespoons Melted Butter plus some for topping

  • 1/2 Cup Baking Soda

  • 7 Cups Water

            Instructions:

  1. Start by adding yeast and sugar to the warm beer and stir. Let it sit for a few minutes before adding the butter, flour, and salt.

  2. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes by hand or with a mixer.

  3. Place the dough into a bowl and lightly oil the top. Cover with a cloth or plastic wrap. Place in a warm place and let it sit for 1-2 hours or until it has doubled in size.

  4. Cut the dough into four section. Roll sections of the dough into a log of about 15 inches long. Cut into 1 inch sections and place onto a lined baking sheet. Cover and let sit in a warm place for 20 minutes.

  5. Place water and baking soda into a large pot set to medium heat. Once boiling, add pretzel bites. We suggest doing this 5-8 pretzel bites at a time. Boil pretzel bites for 30 seconds and take out with a slotted spoon. Add bites back to the baking sheet.

  6. Brush on melted butter & salt. Bake 450 for 12 - 14 minutes or until they have reached your desired crispiness.

  7. Enjoy with honey mustard or beer cheese!
